About

House of Savoy has been providing high-quality consignment for all people and all occasions for over four decades. The boutique carries an array of items ranging from everyday quality pieces to designer labels, while specializing in natural fabrics, unique items, and formal wear.

OUR HERITAGE

the history of House of Savoy

1869 Oak Bay Avenue is home to Victoria's longest running consignment store and has been women owned and operated since its creation in the late 1970’s. It opened its doors in 1978 under the name Encore, an appropriate choice for a women’s consignment boutique.

HOUSE OF SAVOY

1980

Marian Savoy was the shop's bookkeeper when she purchased the business in 1980. She added men's clothing, her own eclectic style and a name change. House of Savoy was born.

Initially, House of Savoy would only carry women and men's consignment fashion.  However, as customers started to bring in wedding dresses, so began the expansion of the shop’s formal wear collection.  Today, though the bridal has gone you can still find prom dresses, formal gowns, tuxedos, bow ties and of course, cummerbunds.

HOUSE OF SAVOY

1993

In 1993, Anna Hesung Back purchased House of Savoy, with the vision of creating a shop like no other in the city of Victoria. A trendsetter, and inspired by Parisian boutiques, she focused on finding unique, quality consignment pieces, which would give House of Savoy a theatrical atmosphere.

HOUSE OF SAVOY

2021

In the summer of 2021, Anna Hesung Back prepared for a well-deserved retirement, passing the rich legacy of House of Savoy to its new stewards, Émilie Hamel and Ženija Esmits. Bringing with them a wealth of European artistic experience and retail fashion expertise, Émilie and Ženija were honoured to weave their global perspective into the shop's storied history.

HOUSE OF SAVOY

2025

In 2025, Émilie Hamel became the sole owner of House of Savoy, ushering in a new chapter defined by her European artistic background and global fashion expertise. Under her leadership, the boutique prioritizes uncompromising quality, curated craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability through circular fashion and natural fabrics.

More than a shop, House of Savoy serves as a community hub where Émilie blends international style with local connection, creating an inclusive and inspiring destination for all.
